AÐALSTEINN ÁSBERG SIGURÐSSON

 

Writer, literary translator, songwriter, editor and publisher | Iceland

Aðalsteinn Ásberg Sigurðsson was born in Húsavík, north Iceland, in 1955, and grew up in the region. After attending the Commercial College of Iceland in Reykjavík, he studied Icelandic language, music and acting. In 1977 he made his literary bebut with a book of poetry, Ósánar lendur (Virgin Soil). Since then he has published 20 books of poetry and translated poetry, one novel and 12 children´s books. Apart from the books he has also produced many recordings of his lyrics and songs. He has won several prizes for his works and his poems and children´s books are translated into a dozen of languages. From 1998-2006 he was the president of the Writer´s Union of Iceland. Sigurdsson lives in Reykjavík as a full-time writer, translator, editor and publisher.
