Marcus Lindeen is a playwright and director born in Ängelholm, Sweden, in 1980. Before joining the world of film and theatre, Marcus worked as a journalist, hosting cultural shows at both The National Swedish Radio and Television. He studied directing at Dramatiska Institutet in Stockholm and made his debut with Regretters, both a play and a documentary film about two Swedish men who change their sex twice. The play was translated into several languages and the film went on to win numerous awards. Among them Best Documentary at Krakow IFF, the prestigious Prix Europa award for best European tv-documentary in Berlin and the Swedish Academy Award (Guldbagge) for best documentary film in 2011. Regretters has besides touring a ton of festivals, also been screened at The Museum of Modern Art in New York and The National Center for Contemporary Art in Moscow.

In 2011 his second film Accidentes Gloriosos premiered at The Venice Film Festival and won the prize for best medium-length film in the Orizzonti section. The film is co-written and directed together with Argentinian filmmaker Mauro Andrizzi. It's a black-and-white one hour long film about car crashes, sexual adventures and bottomless holes. In 2012 it is being screened in several festivals, among them Hors Pistes at Centre Pompidou in Paris.

Lindeen’s theater work include plays such as ”Another Fight”, a documentary drama about a school shooting, a child custody conflict and a deaf power action. And most recently ”Animals Dying” (National Touring Company of Sweden and The National Swedish Theater in Helsinki, Finland). He has also been a freelance writer and radio producer in New York and studied art in Denmark.

In 2012 his play "Arkivet för orealiserbara drömmar och visioner" opened at Stockholms Stadsteater. The production is based on unfinished and never seen film scripts by Ingmar Bergman. His new play "A lost generation" about youth unemployment will open at The Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm on the 6th of May.
