Margrét Kristín Sigurðardóttir

Fabúla - Margrét Kristín Sigurðardóttir - is a singer-songwriter that does not fall easily into one category. Equally influenced by jazz, folk and contemporary pop, playful, yet somewhat melancholic she has a distinct sound, that is strong, fragile, warm and full of details.

Fabúla is a storyteller, using music, lyrics, movements, acting and visual arts as parts of her expression. She received her education in composing, jazz piano and dramatic arts, in Reykjavík, Trondheim and London and her career as a singer-songwriter took off as she released her first solo-album “Cut My Strings” in 1996. That album was nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards and her second album “Kossafar á ilinni” was also nominated, as the album of the year 2002. Her album “Dusk” was released in 2006 and “In Your Skin” in 2009. Her most recent singles are “Diamond Boy” and “Hljóðskraf”.

Alongside her career as a singer-songwriter she has also appeared in musicals and did recently study acting at Drama Studio London. Lately she has written music for the theatre and during her stay in Circolo Scandinavo she will compose music for a play based on a true story of Sunnefa Jónsdóttir, sentenced to death in Iceland in the 18th century.
