KIRSIMARJA METSÄHUONE

Helsinki Finland based visual and media artist KirsiMarja Metsähuone examines in her work two distinct themes: Memory, identity, feminist and bodily issues on one hand and Urban charm and decay; the unpredictable dialog born out of the interaction between people and the urban environment on the other. Her work has been greatly influenced by the ten years she lived in the United States. Metsähuone holds a B.F.A. from the San Francisco Art Institute, one of the oldest art schools in the United States, where she studied experimental film & photography and an M.F.A. in media arts from the Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. She has also studied writing, journalism and media scriptwriting in the U.S and Finland. KirsiMarja Metsähuone has shown herfilms, videos and photographs in numerous exbitions e.g., in the United States, Finland, England and China. She has also an extensive experience in working with children and teens, art students and professional artists as a teacher/lecturer of art, photography and video.
