The Artist-in-residence program

From October 2023 the residency programme is suspended because of lack of financial support. The Director and the Board are working hard on finding a solution and we really hope to open the programme again as soon as possible.

Circolo Scandinavo offers a modern residency for artists from all Nordic countries. Circolo is located in the beautiful and calm area of San Saba.

The granted scholarship includes cultural activities and events, assistance and curated collaborations. Our operation promotes Nordic artists in Italy by collaborating and networking with the Italian public, artists and cultural institutions. The staff take the residents wishes in consideration and arranges collaborations, meetings and events accordingly.

Our facility is newly renovated and has a big garden. We offer four bedrooms equipped with air conditioning, WIFI, double beds, a big desk and a chair. Two of the rooms has a private bathroom and two of the rooms a shared bathroom. The monthly rent is between 550 € - 650 €, depending on the room. At the residents´ disposal is a library, living room, big porch and a shared kitchen.

The application period is from the 1st of February to the 1st of April. All applications are forwarded to the relevant national artists organisations, where an inter-Nordic committee makes the final decisions. Members of the selection committee consists of professional artists on the Board and the Director of Circolo Scandinavo. Applications are assesed by quality and there is no quota-based selection.

An application form is mandatory (the link to the application form is displayed above) to submit during the application period. Due to administrative procedures, applicants are kindly requested to fill in the application form in Danish, Swedish, Norwegian or English. State your motivation for applying for residency.
