Esther Wellejus

Esther Wellejus is an award winning Danish film director, living and working in Copenhagen. She wrote and directed the documentary You Are Still Somebody’s Someone (original title Vi Lader Billedet Stå Et Øjeblik), a film with a personal subject matter on memory and loss, expressed through an explorative poetic style challenging the classical observational documentary. The film was awarded The Danish Film Academy Award for best documentary short, 2019.

Esther holds a MA in Film- and Media studies from the University of Copenhagen – since graduating she's been working in documentary film and development. She's now writing her first book.
