LENE THERESE TEIGEN

Lene Therese Teigen (cand.philol.) is a writer and theatre director based in Oslo, Norway. Her plays have been produced in several countries around the world. She has published three novels and an anthology on drama history in addition to her plays. As a playwright she creates texts with several equal characters, and most of her artistic works are marked by a special focus on gender awareness and equality. From 2010-2015 Teigen was the president of WPI – Women Playwrights International. 

 

Her play ”Mater Nexus” was translated to Italian in 2017, and will be presented as a staged reading at Compagnia di Arti e Mestieri in Pordenone on March 6th 2018. It has among other productions also had a run in Tokyo as a japanese performance directed by Teigen. Her newest play ”Time without books”,  will have its world premiere at the National Theatre in Uruguay, Teatro Solis in Montevideo, on May 9th 2018. ”Falling Apples” premiered at La Mama Theatre in Melbourne, Australia, in September 2016, and ”Voiced” was performed in Cape Town, South Africa, in July 2015.

 

Teigen is the receipient of the 2018 Munch Research Grant awarded by the Municipality of Oslo, for her writings on Tulla Larsen and Edvard Munch. Currently she is working on a play about Livia Drusilla, the first empress of Rome.

 

Teigen is currently working on the project «LIVIA’s ROOM» in collaboration with, among others, fellow artists-in-residence textile artist Ingrid Aarset and composer Thuridur Jonsdottir, and will conduct a workshop and a conference in connection to Livia’s Room while in Rome.
