Being a member means giving important support to Circolo, helping us keep up and develop our activity – offering Nordic artists from all art fields the possibility to live and work in the center of Rome for periods of one to three months. Circolo is also keen on promoting Nordic art and culture in Italy, and actively try to help our artists in residence to create contacts to the Italian art and culture field.
Circolo’s – for a Nordic context – rather long history of some 150 years, with well-known names such as Selma Lagerlöf, Henrik Ibsen, Bertel Thorvaldsen and H.C. Andersen among its former members, give the visiting artists a sense of belonging to a great tradition of Nordic artists. Rome has, and always will be, a great source of inspiration, and a place artists feel a need to visit. And with its current location in idyllic yet central Trastevere, Circolo offers a unique atmosphere and working possibilities for the artists in residence.
All new membership applications have to be approved by the board, according to the Status.
Membership is for the calendar year (January 1 - December 31)
