Carina Burman (b. 1960) is a Swedish writer of both fiction and non-fiction with more than 400 publications to her name. She has authored nine novels, which have been translated into multiple languages. She has also written four major biographies, and is active as an essayist and literary critic. Rome has been a recurring motif in her work. Her sixth novel Vit som marmor (2006) is set in Rome in the 1850s, and her non-fiction book Vi romantiska resenärer (2016) focuses on the Swedish travel-writer Ellen Rydelius and her guide book to Rome.

Biografin (2019) is the first exhaustive biography of the 18 th century poet Carl Michael Bellman, whose influence on Swedish music continues to this day. God natt Madame (2021)
is a novel about one of Bellman’s contemporaries, the intellectual and extravagant noblewoman Anna Charlotta von Stapelmohr.
Burman lives in Uppsala with her husband. She has three adult children.
